Okay so I'm an older gamer but I still enjoy rpg's and rts's. Guild wars was the first online game that I finally gave a try. I never thought online gaming was all that great. Good thing I was wrong. Unfortunately GW is addicting. But that's a vice I enjoy. Especially in the winter months of Canada.

I presently play 8 charcters. Sooo... I could be anybody..lest you look here. ha ha

The characters I presently play after 500+ hours are:

Princess Jaquline - female W/R in pre

John Sir Nolingar - male W/N in post

Lorissa Gorvan - female R/E in pre

Gorgeous Heartbreak - female E/R in post

Red Runner of Death - female Assassin in Factions

Rhia of Mithuras - female Ritualist in Factions

The Favoured Son - male D/M in Nightfall

Nightmare of Dasala - female Necromancer in pre (new)

Ya, I like creating female characters...they just look better....no arguments?..loll

I love to help out newbies the best. They have a ball cause everything is new. Yes..I never will run out of new things in GW and all the other chapters of GW. I still haven't gone over to Eye of the North yet because there's so much to do in these vast worlds. Eventually I'll venture there when I'm ready.

P.S. Installed all GWs and pre-packs at the same time so I'm just holding back on entering EOTN. I also haven't tried PvE or PvP yet as they are another experience yet to taste.

You all have fun.

Rofl you and my fiance' would get along just fine. EVERY game he plays he creates a female character his excuse is "If you gotta stare at it for hours on end it might as well be somethin worth looking at" haha!

But yeah, totally no arguments on that subject =D

I'm the same way. All of my characters are female because I would rather be staring at a female's butt rather than a big sweaty guy's. affraid

Its funny though.. both of my male characters leveled much faster.

I spent much more time trying to level the female characters.

I wonder if that was not just a coincidence of the makeup of the game (size & gendre).

I'm not trying to be chauvanistic...but its just has been my experience with my characters. I previously had thought all characters, regardless of size and gendre, should level just as well as the next one with the same amount of effort.

Anyone else find this a peculiarity in Guild Wars as well?

Hmmmm.

Well we'd have to test the theory but Ive noticed it too, it seems the taller characters run faster than the shorter ones xD so yeah just to be sure it aint my imagination we'd have to test that theory, but I noticed it when Yuri and I were in pre, he ran faster than me, or the other way around depending on which characters we were on

Well..I tested this theory soloing and partying in pre and you're right ...or maybe not.

Characters in pre leveled up noticeably faster when they were created to maximum height.

When I created Nightmare Of Dasala, a female necromancer, she leveled very fast.
Same goes for my newest ...Sledgehammer Cometh, a male warrior, who also leveled quickly.

Both characters were set to maximum height when created. However, melee characters seem to level slightly quicker especially if there are spellcasters in the party. Possibly due to the fact that your melee character is beating the crap out of the enemy, or visa versa, while their first target was most likely the spellcaster. This holds true when the enemy attacks your party first. Then another thing that came to me was targeting. If you went on the attack first in your party, you were almost always guaranteed a drop or xp....even if you didn't actually do the killing blow.

This seems to be consistant in rpgs where melee (especially warrior-type tanks) always level faster...but can die faster too because they are the brutes in a firefight.
And to my dismay...my female characters in the same profession as a warrior just couldn't level as quickly....but accrued more drops.

Guess it's a small price to pay to play the most beautiful but deadly characters of Guild Wars. If you create female characters, make them tall...it will lessen the difference a bit.

Of course your use of skill sets and playing style are all are direct influences as well.

P.S. I've now introduced and added "Sledgehammer Cometh" who is the character that was created to match my username on this forum. He is my nineth character and my last for now. After all isn't nine characters enough? Hiyaaah! (spirit yell)

[b]If you remember Princess Jaquline (mentioned in my characters above is also a warrior(ess) (with a Ranger secondary). Whatever is poliltically correct. Anyways, she did not level as fast as Sledgehammer Cometh did. Her main weapon is the hand axe of decent damage. Slegehammer's is the sword, whereas John Sir Nolingar, a male warrior/necromancer went to post prematuraly at level 8 and leveled fastest due to higher level adversaries__his weapon is a two-handed hammer. All characters were set at maximum height.

My point is...my males always leveled quicker. Whether they ran faster at maximum height than females? I didn't find any difference. Maybe the male characters were more likely to be picked for partying..I didn't notice. It would be interesting to see the "donkeys" both dealing blows to enemies and verifying if the damage points with the same weapons from either character were the same.

All this is circumstantial on basic leveling up to level 10. Level 14 is where I normally will go to post but my female ele had to go at 12 or 13 because she was taking forever to level. Post is much more beneficial with henchmen taking more of the heat. I'm not saying a male ele would fare too great either due to such poor armour in pre.

Although leveling isn't fully completed for this test, Sledgehammer has leveled in 2/3 the time that Jaquline did at his level. Maybe player experience in the game accounted for that drastic a difference. I'm not a super player or anything...I just notice the difference in the leveling time.

P.S. Princess Jaqueline and Lorrissa Gorvan are both at level 14 and soon will go to post as they've bascically plateaued....Sledgehammer went to level 9 in a few days. My poor Nightmare of Dasala is having a bit of a time trying to clear the northern Charr. I'll probably use a monk as a secondary for her as she can't take too much of a beating. Kinda like the healing and the stealing type of gal...ha ha

I hear ya Renegade....you nailed it on the male necros. They are butt ugly and look like they still need a halloween party to go to.

Cynn..I actually noticed that when charr hunting and my tallest characters always ran as fast or faster than than the other party. Sometimes I literally had to wait for them to catch up.

However, the gendre war re:racing same type of characters maxed in height...I haven't been able to distern a real difference but from my experience racing back to the charr battles__there is a definite difference between differing heights of characters. Common sense would dictate that longer legs cover more distance and the game probably follows these physics. Then again maybe I lucked out several times on the start line (resurrection shrine). Who knows.

The gendre leveling difference is another question. Can't quite put my finger on it but maybe its not at all unreasonable to subconciously be playing more defensively with my female characters. Nahh!

I remember way back... playing Dungeon Siege and I was blown away that the female characters were just as strong and hit just as hard as the males...regardless of the difference in their height and build. I played Dungeon Siege many times with both genders in single player mode. A lot of the things that made that game great in its time exists in Guild Wars but in different ways. Mining for weapons. armour or gold, merchants or traders, leveling, henchmen, ect were all there. Just a different game (where you leveled by your use of the heaviest or most magical armour, weapons, and skills).

As always, keep playing and enjoy your characters of either gender...I will.

I played the first version of Dungeon Seige about the time it was first advertised. I was hooked.

Played awefull hours every day and night for two weeks the first time I beat it, then played it again and found a different path to the ending. Both ways the ending sucked leaving you wondering if you really finished the game. But the game was awesum when it first was popular. I remember it was one of the first games that played without loading times between chapters or screenplay. That was great accomplishment in its time.

Then I got LOA and it was even better. Finished it several times

Dungeon Siege II definitely reminds me of Guild Wars where you were penalized for dying. Unfortunately, it was never finished, though I still go back to it now and then.

Also I played some of the community mods for D1. Dungeon Seige was my all time favourite RPG series for single player.

The Age of Empires Series was my all time RTS favs. I still get that nostalgia to play them......all of them.

For shooters, I loved Far Cry but it got way too hard near the end to finish, even with hints and walkthroughs I found browsing for help on the web. Though Unreal Tournament GOTY was excellent when it came out in...hmm...1999.

MechWarrior 3 and 4 series also was played alot. I also have a good collection of Neverwinter Nights campaigns but I just couldn't quite aquire a real satisfaction for the game.

Never could get into flying games but Ill-2 Sturmovich would be the most-played of the ones I had. Racing..definitely Need for Speed. from Underground to Most Wanted and Carbon. Loved the police pursuits.

There is far too many more I spent a huge amount of time on. I think if I tried to list all my purchased games since 2001, (which included hard to find older games on E-bay), it would be close to 90 - 100 games and/or expansions. I only regret that I don't have the time to re-experience them all but they are all great time-wasters.

Whew.. that was long.

Well, started another account and have yet to set it up with a guild.

I'm looking for someone to help with a PVP character.

In PVP I still feel like I'm playing solo.

Anyone know how to build sklills in PVP or any other help in this area.

Getting tired of winning 1 battle,,losing the next,,

mostly I'm out-skilled on the battlefield and not sure how to aquire them in pvp only.

Do we have a good PVP guild group that has the time to teach first-timers to PvP?

Wow.. I played Dungeon Seige and actually quit mid-way out of frustration. It was just like, one long pathway, split in two ways, both being long paths, which both split again.. It was like "Omg, does this end or am I in the twilight zone?" Which is actually true in one desert where if you don't run in the right direction, you could continue running straight and you'd end up in the same place. xD Eventually I picked it up again, and finished it, so I know what ya mean. I wonder why it continues to let you play after you beat the boss. o.0

I always started an online game, and did a "Pit Of Despair" run.. It takes me about an hour to beat.. You have a big hole in the ground where a spiral path leads down to it, which leads to one of those wooden elevators which takes you down further. Than a maze where you have to find 3 skulls and a maze to the door, then a maze where it's dark and you have to find 4 statues, which leads to another maze with stairs that over-lap and go around and above/below eachother, which leads to a mini-maze that leads to a chest.. It drops a few items, but there's a good chance that they are awesome. ^.^

I loved Starcraft. The original story-line was decent but I enjoyed the online play custom maps.. Cat and Mouse, Survive Zombie Ambush's, Resident Evil campains, Paintball.. It was all pretty awesome lol.
